Ordinarily, I wouldn't take a picture in a bathroom. But in this case, I couldn't resist. This is the sink found in both men's and women's bathrooms in the McDonald's on Hwy 290 in Elgin (pronounced with a "hard" G as in "gift" for all those familiar with the "Eljin" pronunciation of Elgin, IL), Texas, east of Austin. It cracked me up. We love our state, what can I say?
OK, so it's not as worthy a cause as visiting The Hunger Site every day, but... a former youth group student of mine, Elise Bergman, is in a contest to see who will get the last spot on a reality show for fashion designers on Bravo and she needs your vote. So CLICK HERE to vote every day until February 13th. She's up against a guy who seems like a charming young man. He is an underwear designer who calls himself "extremely vain." What's not to love? So vote for Elise daily if you can.
In other "former youth group student" news, Claire Suddath who's writing for Time Magazine has written an article that's still the Number One read site on Time.com, about the "25 Interesting Things" Phenomenon on Facebook, and was as high as the fourth most popular article on the Digg website. It keeps getting e-mailed around the blogosphere too, not to mention that ANOTHER former youth Ray Small is quoted twice on her list (numbers 2 and 20). Keep it up, Claire!
For the .5% of you reading this who care about this kind of thing, I have posted four (4) (IV) (FOUR) new articles on youth ministry originally published in the Managing Your Ministry column in Youthworker Journal. There are six others also available, and I'll keep posting them as they appear. You can access them by scrolling down on the left side of my blog.
